overview

In Glória do Ribatejo, Portugal, 196 acres of land are now abandoned, in a place that was once used as one of the largest radio stations for Free Europe during the Cold War. Over the years, RARET, employed hundreds of people from the county and surroundings, transforming this complex into a small “village” where a school, sports fields, a swimming pool, a residential area for displaced employees, a maternity unit, a health center were built. With doctors and nurses 24 hours a day and even a “supermarket” that offered a series of inaccessible products at the time.

Project kick off

To kick off the project, the team at Informal Labs began by researching and collaborating with local historians and community members to ensure that the book is accurate and rich in historical context.

Next, the team at Informal Labs worked on the visuals and layout.

This included Photography, Visual Documentation and Layout Design.

Bringing design to life

Once the photography, layout, and design were finalized, the team at Informal Labs embarked on the process of bringing the project to life in print. We crafted the layout and design, ensuring that it effectively conveyed the project's essence and visually captivated the audience. Custom elements were incorporated to enhance the overall visual appeal and narrative flow.
